  • Description

United States revenue officials dynamited an illicit liquor distilling plant in backwoods country near Wiggins, Mississippi, Mar 10.

The still was capable of turning our 11,000 gallons of high-quality corn liquor weekly, cheating the Federal Government of 121,000 dollars. But revenue men thought they had caught the distillers after their second shipment to market - a mere 1,500 gallons. Five men were arrested when the still was raided.

This could be Mississippi's last raid on "moonshiners" - distillers of illicit liquor. If a local option law is passed Mississippi will cease to be the USA's last "dry" state, and secret distilling will become pointless.
