    EXTENSIVE SECURITY MEASURES WERE ENFORCED ON TUESDAY WHEN PRESIDENT TITO VISITED THE UNITED NATIONS.AN INCIDENT THE PREVIOUS NIGHT WHEN TWO YUGOSLAVS REACHED THE 35TH FLOOR OF THE NEW YORK HOTEL WHERE THE PRESIDENT IS STAYING, HAS BROUGHT PROTESTS FROM THE YUGOSLAV EMBASSY.

    THE INCIDENT PROMPTED YUGOSLAV CRITICISM OF NEW YORK POLICE AND CAUSED THE CANCELLATION OF A RECEPTION FOR 1,200 PERSONS THE YUGOSLAV U.N.DELEGATION HAD ARRANGED FOR THURSDAY AS THE FINAL EVENT OF PRESIDENT TITO'S VISIT TO THE UNITED STATES.

    WHEN PRESIDENT TITO EMERGED IN HIS LIMOUSINE AT THE U.N.BUILDING, POLICE CLEARED THE ROAD OF SPECTATORS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC WAS BARRED FROM THE U.N.GALLERY.

    THERE WAS AT LEAST ONE SCUFFLE BETWEEN PRO AND ANTI-TITO SYMPATHISERS OUTSIDE THE U.N.AND AN ANTI-TITO CROATIAN WAS ARRESTED.LATER, THREE OTHER ANTI-TITO DEMONSTRATORS ELUDED POLICE AND SPAT ON THE YUGOSLAV FLAG AS IT WAS BEING LOWERED FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOTEL WHERE IT HAD HUNG IN TITO'S HONOUR.POLICE ARRESTED THEM FOR DISORDERLY CONDUCT.

    NEW YORK CITY POLICE COMMISSIONER MICHAEL MURPHY DENOUNCED AS "SHEER, UNADULTERATED NONSENSE" A YUGOSLAV CHARGE THAT NEW YORK POLICE COULD NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION FOR THE GUESTS.
