    DENMARK'S FIRST OIL REFINERY, BUILT AT KALUNDBORG BY A BRITISH FIRM FOR THE AMERICAN TIDEWATER OIL COMPANY, WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED ON AUG 18.

    GEORGE F. GETTY - SON OF THE AMERICAN OIL MULTI-MILLIONAIRE, AND DIRECTOR OF TIDEWATER - DELIVERED THE INAUGURAL ADDRESS. DENMARK'S MINISTER OF TRANSPORT, LINDBERG, CUT THE CEREMONIAL TAPE. THE REFINERY IS NOT YET COMPLETED AND FULL PRODUCTION IS NOT EXPECTED FOR SOME MONTHS. THERE WILL BE 32 HUGE TANKS WITH A TOTAL STORAGE CAPACITY OF 250,000 TONS.

    EARLIER THE SAME DAY, THE FIRST 46,000 TONS OF CRUDE OIL ARRIVED FROM THE MIDDLE EAST ABOARD THE TANKER "VIRGINIA GETTY", A VESSEL OF THE GETTY FLEET WHICH HAS A TOTAL DEADWEIGHT TONNAGE OF 1,117,000 AND INCLUDES SUPER-TANKERS OF 73,000 TONS.
