    THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) PAID A ONE-DAY VISIT TO FRANCE TO SEE HOW THE SUPERSONIC CONCORD JETLINER IS TAKING SHAPE. HE FLEW TO TOULOUSE WHERE THE SUD AVIATION COMPANY IS BUILDING AND TESTING PARTS OF THE PROJECTED SUPERSONIC TRANSPORT.

    PRINCE PHILIP WAS CONDUCTED AROUND THE PLANT BY GENERAL ANDRE PUGET, WHO IS SUD AVIATION'S PRESIDENT. HE WAS SHOWN A WOODEN MODEL OF THE AIRLINER -- BUILT TO SCALE -- AND LATER SAT IN THE COCKPIT. SUD AVIATION AND THE BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORPORATION ARE JOINTLY DEVELOPING THE AIRCRAFT.

    GENERAL PUGET TOLD PRINCE PHILIP THAT THE FIRST PROTO-TYPE OF THE CONCORD WILL TAKE TO THE AIR IN MARCH 1968 -- SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE SECOND, BRITISH - BUILT AIRCRAFT IS READY.

    (THE DAY BEFORE, SUD AVIATION ANNOUNCED THAT THE PASSENGER CARRYING CAPABILITY OF THE CONCORD HAD BEEN INCREASED FROM 130 TO 138. THE CHANGES' TO THE CABIN. THERE WOULD BE NO ALTERATION TO THE OVERALL STRUCTURE OF THE AIRCRAFT WHICH IS DUE IN SERVICE IN 1971.)
