    Background: British Colombia (Canada's most western province) is a region of forests--having some 200 thousand square miles of timer lands which provide a valuable natural resources which yields an income of 850 million dollars.

    Timber industries in the province employ 70 thousand people, 1800 of them engaged in actual logging operations in the forests.

    The first sawmill as established in British Colombia more than a century ago. The hand logger with his aexes and ox-power has been replaced by the operator of the chain saw, one man controlling diesel power with a lever lifts and swing tons of logs -- and industry of hand labour is now an industry backed modern since and technology.

    The techniques and equipment were developed and built in British Colombia to suit particular needs of the region.
