  • Description

The Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi stopped off in Malta to visit the Maltese Prime Minister Dom Mintoff on Sunday (November 25) following his talks in France with President Pompidou.

Before leaving France Colonel Gaddafi told newsmen he did not think the chiefs of Arab States did not always represent the conscience of the Arab nation and he preferred to appeal to the Arab people themselves.

On Sunday evening Mr. Mintoff took the Libyan head of state, who is a close personal friend, to a Labour Party Club and later they went on together to a musical club.

On Monday Colonel Gaddafi toured a dockyard which is building a dry dock for Libya at a cost of 1.7 million sterling (4.24 million US dollars). Workers downed tools and applauded as he walked through the yard.

Mr. Mintoff visited Libya at the beginning of the year and Libya has provided military equipment for Malta's armed forces.
