    President Kenneth kaunda presented President Tito of Yugoslavia with the Order of the Grand Companion of Freedom; First Division, during the Yugoslav premier's state visit to Zambia.

    In a recent ceremony at State House, President Tito was made a Grand Commander of the Order.

    During his week long visit to Zambia, President Tito toured the country and had long discussions with President kaunda.

    In a joint communique Yugoslavia and Zambia called on America to withdraw from Vietnam, said Israel was preventing a political solution of the Middle East crisis, and urged an end to foreign arms supplies to South Africa.

    The communique said that in exhaustive talks on the international situation and bilateral relations, President Tito and his host, President Kaunda, had shown a complete identity of views.

    On Vietnam, the communique said: They once again condemned the illusions that an acceptable solution can be imposed on the Vietnamese people through a continuation of the war. The two Presidents urged the immediate withdrawal of United States troops and their allies. And on the Middle East, they noted Israel's refusal to withdraw from occupied Arab territories, its ignoring of all peace initiatives which prevented a political solution of the Middle East problem.

    The major part of the communique reiterated the two leaders' condemnation of colonialism and the policies of South Africa, Rhodesia and Portugal.

    On bilateral relations, the Yugoslav and Zambian leaders agreed to make further efforts to extend co-operation in such areas as agriculture, mining and hydroelectric development in Zambia. It was agreed to establish joint prospecting ventures and exploratory works in the field of mining under the supervision of a Zambian-Yugoslav company. It was also agreed that new efforts would be made to increase trade between the two countries and extend the existing scientific, technical and cultural co-operation.

    President Tito went to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia after his visit to Zambia.
