  • Description

King Hussein of Jordan left his capital, Amman, yesterday (Tuesday) for Kuwait to begin a 10-day tour of Arab and Islamic States.

From Kuwait, King Hussein will visit Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, Morroco and Lebanon. It's believed the king will sound out views on a proposed Arab summit conference.

Only the day before his departure, King Hussein farewelled President Abdel-Rahman Arif of Iraq who'd been in Amman for two days for rounds of talks.

Officials said the two leaders discussed "means of eliminating the consequences of Israeli aggression."
President Arif also visited Iraqi troops stationed in Jordan since the outbreak of the June war with Israel, and told them there were still many rounds to come in the fight, and "we prefer to die rather than accept humiliation."
