  • Description

The leaders of Egypt, Sudan, Libya and Syria wound up their three day meeting in Cairo yesterday (Friday) with a pledge to continue their efforts to dislodge Israeli forces from land occupied during the 1967 war.

In a communique released at the end of their talks the leaders also warned that they would reject any attempt to make the truce in the Middle East (which is due to expire in two weeks) permanent.

The talks were attended by President Sadat of Egypt, General Nimeiry of Sudan, Colonel Gaddafi of Libya and Lieutenant-General Assad of Syria. On the last day the four leaders were joined by Mr. Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organisation who clarified his guerrilla group's aims.

The talks ended with the Arab leaders attending prayer.
