    The royal government, with Crown Prince Moulay Hassan as Vice Premier, results form the king's failure to persuade political parties to give him absolute and unconditional support while he stood aloof from politics. He hopes thee by directly entering politics he can end the instability which has given Morocco four governments in the four years of independence form France. Friction between Left and Right has increased in past months., and only visits by foreign dignitaries and unity in face of the Agadir earthquake disaster prevented the rupture becoming more apparent.

    In a 10-minute radio speech, May 23, Kin Mohammed explained that by the end of 1962 his government would establish a genuine constitutional monarchy, with a democratic constitution "which will guarantee the fundamental liberties and set up various elected bodies to control the government." The royal government will also support Nationalist aspiration in Algeria, and hopes to obtain from the French government a declaration on the principle f withdrawing French troops form Morocco.

    Morocco's political future now seems clearer. Nation-wide elections for rural and municipal assemblies were held May 29, regional elections are scheduled for next year, and Assembly.
