    Ghanaian sprinter, Alic Anum, sped to wins in the 100 metres and 200 metres sprint finals to earn here country, two gold medals in the Ghana-Nigeria Sports Festival at the Accra Stadium on Sunday (31 August).

    Ghana also won the prestigious men's 100 metres race, when Albert Lomotey broke the tape with a time of 10.4 second.

    Sunday was the second day of the Festival, after if was suspended the previous Wednesday following a row during the student football final.

    The Festival was restarted when Ghana Head of State, Colonel Ignatius Acheampong, who is also Commissioner for Sports, resolved the deadlock.

    At that stage only the cricket had been decided. Ghana beat Nigeria by one wicket.

    But the swimming competition, held as part of the festival, went all Nigeria's way.

    It took first and second places in all 22 events, and John Ebito set four national records.

    SYNOPSIS: The second day of the Ghana-Nigeria Sports Festival at the Accra stadium on Sunday, and competition was back in full swing after a dispute suspended the games the previous Wednesday. And Ghana made it a golden day with wins in three prestige events.

    Sprinter Albert Lomotey snatched the 100 metres and a Gold for Ghana with a time of ten point four second.

    Ghanaian Director of Sports, Mr. Orleans Pobee awarded Lomotey his medal in the victory ceremony after the race.

    But star of the day was Alice Anum, known as the African Queen, for her winds first in the women's 200 metres final.

    Then she took the sought after double by winning the 100 metres final from Hanna Afriyie, also of Ghana.
