Background: On Saturday (15 May), Jewish and Arabs Communist party members gathered in the Jerusalem forest to celebrate the 9th of May 1945 -- the day, they say, when Soviet forces liberated Europe from fascism.

The crowd was predominately made up of supporters from the two Communist parties of Israel-Rakach and Maki. The crowd was addressed by leading Communist officials and Jewish and Arab leaders of the "League for Israeli-Soviet Friendship".
