    A Ugandan entrant tin this year's Commonwealth Games in Christchurch won the first joint Kenya-Uganda cycling competition at Nairobi on Sunday (1 September).

    Mohamed Mukasa -- who came 17th in the Commonwealth Games cycling finals -- won the 100 kilometre (62 mile) race in a time of 2 hours 51.39 seconds. he was followed closely across the line by Kenyan rider, Keith Noronha.

    Twenty four cyclists from the Kenyan and Ugandan National Amateur Cycling associations took part in the competition.

    The winner received a trophy from Kenya's Assistant Minister for Tourism, Mr. Josiah Kariuki, who also flagged the competitors away at the start of the race.
