  • Description

West Ham, who until recently were leading the south's challenge for the English Football League championship, lost another point at home on Saturday (10 January). They were held to a 1-1 draw by Midland side Leicester City.

The result left the east London side further adrift of the four northern teams who are jostling for the top position.

Leicester have not had a successful season but they were able to withstand the West Ham first half assaults with reactive ease.

Try as they might West Ham, who lost their last game at home, could not find their winning style of earlier in the season. Alan Taylor finally put them when Brooking's cross left him a clear chance from close in the 65th minute, but little more than ten minutes later Bob Lee intercepted a bad back pass from West Ham's other Taylor, Tommy -- and Leicester were level.

The score remained at 1-1 and Leicester were worth their point. West Ham will need to start winning at home again if they are to have any chance of winning the championship.
