Background: The Pakistani government has made lavish arrangements for the state visit of Saudi Arabia's King Khalid, who arrived in Islamabad on Sunday (10 October). Among the spectacles in the King's honour will be a mass gymnastic display.

SYNOPSIS: 20,000 Pakistani youths have been practising for the occasion for 10 weeks. This display spells out a welcome message to the King from whom Pakistan is hoping to receive massive loans.

Eight North Korean gymnastic specialists have been training the young gymnasts.

The gymnastic training scheme was ordered by Prime Minister said he was greatly impressed by the mass gymnastics displays he observed during a recent visit to North Korea and wanted the same displays in his country.

Pakistani Minister of Education Abdul Hafez Pirada is in overall charge of the project, but naturally he is relying greatly on the expertise of the North Koreans.

The Pakistani Army is also taking part. Soldiers give symbolic displays of war and peace.

The display in honour of King Khalid will take place in the Islamabad National Sports Stadium during his six-day visit.

The climax of the display is a formation of portraits of the Saudi Arabian King and Prime Minister Bhutto.
