    Background: BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA

At the World Parachuting Championships in Brisbane on October 25, the Chinese team turned in an impressive display. Using inferior equipment, the Chinese set and broke their own world record in the four-man rotation event. They managed 20 rotations in a preliminary competition, then in the finals made it 21. The United States and Australian teams were strong in other disciplines in the championships, and finished first and second respectively, with China managing a creditable third. Officials rated the competition as the most successful ever, with first class canopy work by all contestants.
