Background: The UK marathon walker Dr. Barbara Moore, 56, three-quarters of the (walking) way across the U.S. when a car hit her in the back spent 24 hours hospital June 13 - at Brazil Indiana - for a medical inspection. Next day, with 2,000 miles behind her, she was on the road again. She said she hoped to reach New York June 23.
The hit in the back by a slow-moving touring car came as she had stepped on to a four-lane highway after being surrounded by a crowd on the centre strip. The driver stopped immediately. Mrs. Moore telephoned her husband in London, assured him she was "all right" - except for the bruise left by the car, and sunburn and a swollen left ankle from the marathon hike.
