    THE SEVENTY-TWO REMAINING CARS OUT OF THE NINETY-EIGHT THAT STARTED IN THE LONDON-SYDNEY MOTOR RALLY STEAMED OUT OF BOMBAY LAST NIGHT (WEDNESDAY) IN THE LINER CHUSAN FOR FREEMANTLE, AUSTRALIA.

    THE CARS WERE LOADED ABOARD THE 24,000-TON LINER THROUGHOUT LAST TUESDAY NIGHT (3 DECEMBER) AND THE JOB WAS COMPLETED EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE CARS WERE LOADED AT VARIOUS POINTS ABOUT THE SHIP SIMULTANEOUSLY.

    AMONG THE CARS LOADED WERE TWO FROM THE BRITISH ARMY MOTORING ASSOCIATION, NO. 44 DRIVEN BY MAJORS M. BAILEY AND F. PRESTON, AND NO. 90, DRIVEN BY CAPTAIN D. HARRISON AND LIEUTENANT M. PROUDLOCK.

    THE SEVENTY-TWO CARS HAVE COVERED MORE THAN HALF OF THE 10,000 MILE (16,000 KM.) COURSE AND WILL ARRIVE IN FREEMANTLE ON DECEMBER 13 FOR THE LAST 3,500 MILE (5,550 KM.) DRIVE THROUGH THE AUSTRALIAN DESERT TO SYDNEY.

    THE LEADERS AT BOMBAY WERE ROGER CLARK OF BRITAIN AND OVER ANDERSSEN OF SWEDEN.
