  • Description

The four member nations of the Central African Customs and Economic Union began a meeting in Brazzaville on Saturday (6 May).

Both the president of the meeting -- Congo's Minister of Commerce, Mr. Manu Mahungu, and the Secretary-General, M. Tchianke told the meeting that the organisation is "in excellent health" but that there remain a number of day to day problems which need resolving.

(The four member nations of UDEAC are Cameroon, Central African Republic, the Cong Republic and Gabon. Chad was also originally a member of the organisation but withdrew along with Central African Republic in 1968 to form a separate organisation with Zaire. Central African Republic has since rejoined UNDAC).
