Background: The Federal Nigerian government announced tonight that it has formed a war cabinet to conduct its campaign against the Eastern Region regime of Biafra. The Lagos government also said that it had Soviet Mig aircraft and technicians.
Meanwhile, Eastern Region troops have advanced in to the Mid-West Region of Nigeria and captured the town of Ore. Federal forces counter-attacked in the area and moved towards Ore.
At Oluwa, seventeen miles from Ore, Federal troops have blown up the bridge carrying the main road from Benin to Lagos. Yesterday, Federal troops supported by armoured cars were manning the bridge after having beaten back an attack by Biafran troops.
Behind the front line, Federal troops captured a number of suspected Biafran infiltrators and quantities of home-made weapons.
Latest reports today say that more Federal troops are moving into the Ore region and appear to be preparing for an offensive aimed at pushing Biafran troops out of the town.
