Background: President Eisenhower's tribute to the late John Foster Dulles was read to assembled pressman by the Presidential press secretary James Hagerty, at the White House May 24.
Mr. Dulles, American Secretary of State since Mr. Eisenhower first became President, died peacefully in his sleep May 24 at the Walter Reed Military Hospital, Washington. He had been suffering from Cancer and pneumonia.
An official funeral has been arranged for Wednesday May 27 at Washington's National Episcopal Cathedral. Interment will be at Arlington national Cemetery immediately after the Cathedral service.
Tributes to Mr. Dulles's integrity, sincerity and courage, continue to pour in from national leaders, politicians and personalities in all parts of the world.
The Foreign Minister's conference has been suspended in Geneva to enable American Secretary of State Herter, Britain's Selwyn Lloyd, France's Couve de Murville, and possibly Russia's Gromyko to fly to Washington for the funeral.
