Background: Torpedo-boats and rocket-cutters begin the action. The ships an U-boats are being supported by the fleet air arm of three nations: Soviet Union, Poland and GDR. From their observation post the commanders of Warsaw Pact forces evaluate how the maneuvers are progressing.
According to the maneuvers scheme a large beach-landing force is to be countered by an opposing military group.
In no time the amphibious tanks and carries reach their points of destination. In the first half of July the Soviet, Polish and GDR navies held their staff maneuvers coded by the name "Sievier" - meaning "North" in Russian. They took place simultaneously in the distant and extensive parts of the Baltic Sea, the Barents Sea, the North Sea and in the northern regions of the Atlantic Ocean. The maneuvers became a good proof of the combat preparedness and concurrence of the allied forces.
