  • Description

President Kenneth kaunda of Zambia said in Lusaka on Monday (14th Sept) that four journalists had been expelled from the country during the non-aligned summit conference last week because they came to insult Zambia and subvert the conference. The President showed the press conference letters which he claimed confirmed threats to blow up the summit conference hall and when the threats failed the journalists had been sent as a "fifth column".

Zambian police detained 16 journalists at various times during the conference and four deported. The four journalists expelled were either normally based in South Africa or represented South African news organisations.
