Background: The Israeli cabinet met in Jerusalem on Sunday (23 August) to appoint Foreign Minister, Mr Abba Eban, as chief delegate to the Middle-East peace talks with Egypt and Jordan.
Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. Yosef Tekoah was named Deputy delegate.
The appointment of Mr Eban as Chief delegate Emphasises Israel's belief that the peace negotiations should be held eventually at Foreign Minister level.
Another topic of discussion at the meeting was believed to have been the claimed Egyptian ceasefire violations and Israeli -- United States relations in the light of Washington's refusal to endorse earlier Israeli violation complaints.
