    THE BULGARIAN PRIME MINISTER, MR TODOR ZHUKOV, HAS ENDED HIS FIVE-DAY VISIT TO INDIA, DURING WHICH HE WAS PRESENT AT COLOURFUL CELEBRATIONS OF THE NATION'S 19TH REPUBLIC DAY. MR ZHUKOV ACCOMPANIED INDIAN PRIME MINISTER MRS F INDIRA GHANDI AT THE CELEBRATION YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) IN NEW DELHI.

    SOVIET DESIGNED MIG JET FIGHTERS ROARED OVERHEAD, DURING A MASSIVE MILITARY PARADE STAGED TO MARK THE ANNIVERSARY. THE 44 MIG's -- SOME ASSEMBLED IN INDIA -- WERE THE LARGEST SINGLE CONTINGENT IN A FLYPAST OF 150 AIRCRAFT.

    THE AIR FORCE GROUND DISPLAY INCLUDED TWO SURFACE-TO-AIR GUIDED MISSILES, ON PUBLIC FOR THE FIRST TIME. PRESIDENT ZAKIR HUSAIN OF INDIA TOOK THE SALUTE AS THE PARADE OF MEN, EQUIPMENT AND ANIMALS FILED PAST IN THE PARADE.

    ABOUT ONE MILLION PEOPLE THRONGED THE DECORATED PARADE ROUTE.
