    Background: Denmark held
Czechoslovakia to a I-I draw in Copenhagen on Wednesday, (May 2) in a World
    Soccer Cup, qualifying round.

Denmark in the red shorts opened in a determined way with several dangerous
attacks. They forced a corner but the resulting shot went wide. Then after 16
minutes Ole Bjoernmose got the ball well outside the penalty area and hit a
tremendous shot into the net, giving the Czech goalkeeper no chance.

But before the first half was over a tragic mistake cost Denmark their lead. A
ball came over towards the goalmouth. The Danish goalkeeper and a defender went
up for the ball at the same time -- seemed to get in each other's way and
Czechoslovakia were level. The scorer was Ladislav Petras.

It was a game that on past record the Czechoslovaks ought to have won. By
dropping one point they have made it more difficult to qualify for the finals of
the 1974 World Cup in West Germany.

For the other team in group eight, apart from Denmark and Czechoslovakia, is
Scotland. And Scotland have already beaten Denmark both home and away -- by 2-0
and 4-1. They lead their group table at the moment with four points against
    Czechoslovakia's one point.

The Czechs will have to beat Scotland to get to the finals.

The game was watched by a crowd of 20,000.
