  • Description

Talks are continuing in the Indian capital of New Delhi between Pakistani and Indian officials aimed at saving the spirit of the "Simla" agreement made between the two countries last month.

Officially, the talks are making "satisfactory progress" but correspondents say it is commonly known throughout New Delhi that the talks have run into rough waters.

The two sides signed the "Simla" agreement after talks between the Indian Prime Minister, Mrs. gandhi, and the Pakistani President, Mr. Bhutto.

At the present talks, the two countries are reviewing the developments since the signing of the agreement. Certain events have threatened to jeopardies both letter and spirit of the agreement. Indians regard as important Mr. Bhutto's refusal to recognise Bangladesh, and the consequent stalemate issue of the return of prisoners of war. Hitches have also arisen in demarcating the troop line of control in Kashmir.
