    The United States is building a new airbase in Thailand, to which they plan to shift a number of air combat units now scheduled for withdrawal from South Vietnam. The airbase, near Nam Phong, has been sealed off and U.S. officials are reluctant to show it off.

    A National Broadcasting Company to film a glimpse of the airbase, after being discovered and asked to leave. N.B.C. reporter Phil Brady says that about 16,000 U.S. soldiers are being shifted from Vietnam to the base. He learned that the first combat jet aircraft -- 32, with 32 more to come -- are already flying missions over North Vietnam and Laos.

    Construction on the airbase is continuing, but already the runways are long enough to support both jet fighter and B-52 long-range bomber aircraft.
