Background: A bomb exploded inside the heavily guarded Argentine Navy headquarters in Buenos Aires on Friday(30 March 1973), killing a National Service Trainee and injuring several other people.
The explosion came amid an increase in violence that has spread across Argentina since the elections three weeks ago.
After the explosion, a tight security cordon was thrown around the naval headquarters. Naval authorities said 2,000 civilians were employed in the building on navy work and at least 800 visitors entered the building each day.
They blamed the explosion on subversive elements.
Later President Lanusse visited the building, outside which realities of the dead serviceman and the injured had gathered.
