    AN EXHIBITION WAS ALSO OPENED BY THE CHIEF MINISTER DATO DONALD STEPHENS. AMONG THE EXHIBITS WERE SOME FIFTY PHOTOGRAPHS OF CAPTURED INDONESIANS, THEIR JUNGLE UNIFORMS AND OTHER ODDS AND ENDS SEIZED FROM INDONESIAN INSURGENTS.

    AT THE RALLY, BANNERS AND PLACARDS BEARING SLOGANS "DEFEND MALAYSIA AT ALL COST", "FIGHT CONFRONTATION TO THE END" AND "MACAPAGAL (PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT) KEEP OFF WERE PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED BY THE CROWD.

    OFFICES THROUGHOUT THE STATE CLOSED EARLY TO ALLOW THEIR EMPLOYEES TO ATTEND THE RALLY.

    DATO MUSTAPHA BIN DATO HARUN, SABAH'S HEAD OF STATE, ADDRESSING THE RALLY SAID DESPITE THE FACT THAT MALAYSIA WAS COMPOSED OF VARIOUS RACES, HE SAW NO COLOUR DIFFERENCES AMONG THE CROWD WHICH HAD COME FOR ONLY ONE PURPOSE --- TO PLEDGE THEIR LOYALTY TO MALAYSIA.

    IN HIS SPEECH, DATO DONALD STEPHENS TOLD THE GATHERING THEY MUST CONTINUE TO BE UNITED AND TREAT EACH OTHER AS EQUAL MALAYSIANS WHATEVER THEIR RACE OR CREED. HE SAID SOLIDARITY WEEK WAS BEING HELD TO SHOW THE WORLD, AND IN PARTICULAR INDONESIA, THAT MALAYSIANS THROUGHOUT THE NATION WERE UNITED.
