    Cuba took a step out of its virtual isolation from Latin America earlier this month with the landing in Havana of the first regular flight from Chile. The 100-seater Chilean jet landed at the Jose-Maria International Airport, on route to Madrid. This air link between the two countries is a concrete example of co-operation between the Marxist countries of Latin America. Chile and Cuba have already signed a five-year agreement on scientific and technical co-operation.

    The landing of the aircraft was filmed by Cuban television.

    SYNOPSIS: Cuba took a step out of her isolation from Latin America earlier this month when an aircraft from Chile landed at the Jose Maria International Airport in Havana, on route to Madrid. It was the first of a regular flight schedule linking Havana to Santiago.

    The passengers who made the trip to Hanava included thirty two professional people, a scientific and technical delegation and a group of seventy seven Chilean tourists.

    The flight is the latest sign of co-operation between the Marxist states of Latin America. Chile and Cuba have already signed a five-year agreement on scientific and technical co-operation.
