  • Description

The Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned countries -- at their conference in Guyana -- agreed on what they called the urgent necessity of assisting the armed struggle of liberation movements in southern Africa.

The final declaration issued yesterday (Saturday) by the conference said the African people had no alternative but to intensify their armed struggle.

It said that the Non-Aligned countries 'undertook to consider ways and means of establishing a method of providing systematic finance, armaments and training for the liberation movements of Afria'.

Although envoys of various African liberation groups had gone to the conference, hoping for gilt edged pledges of cash, guns and supplies, the only known pledge was for 12,500 pounds Sterling (5,210 dollars) from Jamaica.

Visnews reporter Martin Davis, spoke to Kenyan Foreign Minister Dr. Njoroge Mungai and Ghanaian Foreign Minister Major-General Aferi about African liberation.
