    The New British High Commissioner in India Mr. John Freeman, presented his letters of Commission to the acting President Dr. Zakir Hussain, India's vice President, at a very colourful ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidents House), in New Delhi. Mr. Freeman arrived at the Rashtrapati Bhavan accompanied by the Indian Chief of Protocol and escorted by the mounted Body Guard of the President. At the entrance to the house, he was received by the President's Military Secretary and ADC's. Thereafter Mr. Freeman proceeded to inspect a Guard of Honour presented by President's Body Guard. The inspection over, the High Commissioner entered the Durbar Hall. Thereafter vice President Dr. Zakir Hussain arrived at the Durbar Hall are received the British High Commissioner and members of his staff. Mr. Freeman in a short speech outlined the great friendship and affection which the Britishers have for India. On receiving the letters of Commission, Dr. Hussain reciprocated the feelings and thanked Britain for her continued assistance and aid to India in various fields.

    Later Mr. Freeman entertained the members of his staff and their wives for a cup of tea and posed for the Visnews cameraman, at his residence, 2 King George Avenue.
