THEY SPECIALISE MOSTLY IN RICE CULTIVATION IN WHICH JAPAN HAS PROGRESSED CONSIDERABLY. JAPAN WHICH WAS AN IMPORTER OF RICE TILL RECENTLY FROM BURMA, THAILAND AND KOREA HAS NOW BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT IN RICE BECAUSE HER RICE GROWING METHODS HAVE INCREASED PRODUCTION MANY TIMES.

ONE OF THE SUBJECTS THAT INTEREST THESE EXPERTS IS THE PREVENTION OF PESTS.

THEY STUDY RICE PLANTS IN HOT HOUSES AS THE CLIMATE OF THEIR COUNTRIES IS HOTTER THAN JAPAN.

JAPAN HAS NOT TWO OF THESE AGRICULTURAL TRAINING CENTRES UNDER THE COLOMBO PLAN.

FOR NEXT YEAR, JAPAN WILL WELCOME AGRICULTURAL STUDENTS FROM INDIA, THAILAND, SOUTH VIETNAM AND OTHER COUNTRIES.
