After concluding this week's interim peace agreement with Israel. Egyptian President Anwar Sadat has turned his attention to his country's own difficult economic problems.
He began by meeting Premier Mamdouh Salem, Vice President Hosni Mubarak, General Secretary of the Arab Socialist Union Dr. Rifaat Mahgoub and People's Assembly Speaker Sayed Marei. President Sadat considered the meeting so urgent that Mr. Marei was forced to postpones a trip to the International parliamentary Conference in London.
The President discussed far reaching industrial and other projects. Cairo itself is one of the government's main economic problems. The city, one of the largest in the world, needs an emergency operation to save its public services which are said to be nearing complete collapse under the pressure of population explosion.
