    The President of the Viet Cong Provisional Revolutionary Government (PRG) in South Vietnam, Nguyen Huu Tho, arrived in Dakar on Friday (14 September) for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Senegalese President Leopold Sedar Senghor.

    Mr. The and his delegation, which included the Provisional Foreign Madame Nguyen Thi Binh, were greeted by President Sengher at Dakar airport on their arrival from Algiers.

    In his welcoming speech, P_resident Senghor described Mr. Tho as "the head of the Vietnamese resistance". Senegal is among 34 countries -- 14 of which are African -- which have recognised the Provisional Revolutionary Government. The South Vietnamese government later broke off diplomatic relations with Senegal.

    Mr. The was to have private talks with President Seghor, before attending a reception at the Palace of the Republic on Friday night. He was to visit the museum of the Black African Institute on Saturday before resuming discussions.

    A report from Dakar on Wednesday (12 September) said the PRG would soon set up an Embassy in Senegal. the Foreign Minister Assane Sack had talks on the matter with a PRG official before Mr. Tho's arrival.
