    AN 18-YEAR-OLD ARAB COMMANDO, CAPTURED BY ISRAELI FORCES DURING THE RECENT RAID AT EL KARAMEH SPOKE TO REPORTERS AT A PRESS CONFEREE IN TEL AVIV YESTERDAY (SATURDAY). THE COMMANDO, IHSAN HASSAN SUBAK, TOLD WHY HE JOINED THE EL FATAH ORGANISATION AND ANSWERED QUESTIONS PUT TO HIM BY REPORTERS.

    SUBAK, ORIGINALLY OF PALESTINIAN ORIGIN BUT WITH HIS HOME NOW IN SYRIA, SAID THAT THE LEADER OF THE EL FATAH COMMANDOS IN EL KARAMEH, YASSIR ARFAT, HAD THE COMPLETE RUN OF THE TOWN AND WAS INDEPENDENT OF JORDANIAN AUTHORITIES. HE SAID THAT MOST OF THE POPULATION HAD MOVED OUT OF THEIR HOMES, UNDER PRESSURE FROM THE COMMANDOS, WHO COMMANDEERED THEIR FOOD, TAXED THEM AND RECRUITED THEIR YOUNG MEN FOR TRAINING.

    SPEAKING THROUGH AN INTERPRETER, SUBAK SAID THAT HE WAS MISLED INTO JOINING THE ORGANISATION.
