SYNOPSIS: A warm welcome awaited the President of Congo-Kinshasa, when he arrived at Lome airport, in the Togo Republic, last Saturday.
President Mobutu was greeted by the President of Togo, Etienne Eyadema. The Congolese President was in Togo for a three-day official visit.
The people of Togo saw in President Mobutu above all the man who, after years of strife and bitterness, had brought peace and understanding to the Congo. That's how President Eyadema explained later the pleasure of the crowds.
One of the results of the visit was the decision to exchange ambassadors, and to establish a weekly airlink between Kinshasa and Lome. And President Eyadema also accepted an invitation to visit the Congo.
