    NIGERIAN TRAINEES TOURED LONDON'S GIANT INTERNATIONAL TELEPHONE EXCHANGE TODAY (TUESDAY) FOR A FIRST-HAND PICTURE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS PROCEDURE AND EQUIPMENT. THEY'RE IN BRITAIN UNDER AN EXCHANGE SCHEME BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES.

    THE SCHEME IS DESIGNED TO HELP NIGERIANS BROADEN THEIR EXPERIENCE IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS ADMINISTRATION. BRITISH TRAINEES WILL GO TO NIGERIA FOR OVERSEAS EXPERIENCE.

    THREE OF THE NIGERIAN TRAINEES ARE FILMED DURING THEIR VISIT TO THE TELEPHONE EXCHANGE - NERVE-CENTRE OF THE COMMONWEALTH.

    THEY ARE: ELIJAH NDUBUEZE, ASSISTANT TRAFFIC MANAGER; BOLAJI CHARLES OKI, ACCOUNTS CLERK, AND SAMPSON OYELEKAN, ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT. ALL ARE FORMER EMPLOYEES OF THE CABLE AND WIRELESS COMPANY, WHO TRANSFERRED TO NIGERIAN EXTERNAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS WHEN THE COMPANY WAS TAKEN OVER AFTER NIGERIA BECAME INDEPENDENT.
