  • Description

A bomb exploded outside a branch of the French Rothschild Bank in Paris on the night of Sunday (30 May) causing severe damage and slightly injuring two people.

The explosion also damaged several cars parked near the bank in the Rue du Faubourg Saint Honore, where many Parisian fashion houses have their headquarters.

An anonymous telephone caller to a French news agency said the "International Revolutionary Front" - a previously unknown organisation, was responsible for the blast.

The Rothschild financial empire was founded by Mayer Anselm Rothschild during the 18th century. He laid down two maxims for the conduct of the banking operations of his family: conduct all transactions in common and set definite limits to each operation and never aim at exorbitant profits.
