In St. Martinis, Landshut, Hitler, Goering and Goebbels look down from new leaded stained glass?

  • Description

In St. Martinis, Landshut, Hitler, Goering and Goebbels look down from new leaded stained glass windows - the work, in these exclusive pictures, of artist Max Lachner, a former concentration camp inmate.

The Nasi Trinity are there to remind worshippers of Evil. The light from the windows fall upon the altar, also restored of this cathedral, one of the oldest in Bavaria, and now recovered from its war scars.

The Evil Trinity of the Third Reich "to last 1000 years" bear the middle-age aspect of barbarism. But their presentation is modern. Hitler, the executioner, the chief torturer, burns the martyr Castulus with hot irons. His henchmen bear him away for burial.

Artist Lachner's controversial work is not born of hatred: Artists down the centuries have depicted Good and Evil in their works, he says.
