    President Nixon's special security adviser - Dr henry Kissinger - flew into Paris Friday morning (September 15) to brief President Pompidou of France on his recent meeting with Soviet leaders in Moscow.

    Dr Kissinger took advantage of his Paris visit to confer with North Vietnamese Politburo member Le Duc The in what American sources described as a "determined attempt" to resolve the Vietnam conflict before the American Presidential election in November.

    Later, when he entered the Elyses Palace, Dr Kissinger declined comment on the secret session with the Hanoi representatives.

    The meeting with President Pompidou lasted 90 minutes. In addition to briefing the President on his Moscow talks the U.S. envoy heard President Pompidou's views on the European Summit Conference scheduled to open on October 19.

    The two man also discussed prospects for a European Security Conference - preparations for which are to being in November.

    Dr Kissinger flew to Paris from London, where he had briefed the British Prime Minister, Mr Edward Heath, on his Moscow talks.
