    The Vice-President of the Praesidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kang Ryang Uk, arrived in Egypt on Thursday(1 March) to begin a nine-day visit.

    He was met at Cairo Airport by Egyptian Vice-President Hussain Shafei, and by the ambassadors of North Korea, Pakistan and The People's Republic of China.

    Mr. Kang Ryang Uk had arrived from Iraq, where for a week he was the guest of President Ahmed Hassan Al-Bakr.

    SYNOPSIS: The Vice-President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kang Ryang Uk, arrived at Cairo Airport on Thursday to begin an official visit to Egypt. Egyptian Vice-President Hussain Shaei welcomed the North Korean delegation.

    Initial greetings over, the two Vice-Presidents inspected the guard of honour. Mr. Kang Ryang Uk had flown to Egypt from Iraq, where he had spent a week as guest of President Ahmed Hassan Al-Bakr.

    Before leaving the airport to go on to the capital, Mr. Kang met his own ambassador, and was introduced to the ambassadors of Pakistan and The People's Republic of China.

    The North Korean Vice-President will spend nine days in Egypt, and is expected to touch upon the latest developments in the Middle East crisis during talks with senior officials.
