Background: Palestinian leaders meeting in Cairo over the weekend made several moves against King Hussein of Jordan -- including recommendation to oust him and establish a democratic republic there, and to try him for "conspiracy against the Palestine people".

Other resolutions passed by the 500 delegations at the meeting of the Palestine National Congress included a call for unity of all political and military groups in the Palestine Liberation Organisation.

Most of the moves against King Hussein were made on the last day of the four-day meeting, on Monday (April 10), when the Congress called for the formation of a "Palestine Jordan Front" to implement the moves by "all available means" -- including the use of force.

The resolution were endorsed on Tuesday (April 11) by the executive Palestine National Council.
