    PROSPECTORS FROM THE SPANISH REAL COMPANIA ASTURIANA DE MINAS DISCOVERED DIAMOND BEARING ROCK DURING INVESTIGATIONS INVOLVING REOPENING OF THE "TEMYA" NICKEL MINE. THE DIAMONDS HAVE BEEN FOUND IN AN AREA CLOSE TO THE SUMMER RESORT OF MARBELLA.

    THE DIAMOND SAMPLES HAVE BEEN SENT FOR ANALYSIS TO DISCOVER WHETHER THEY ARE OF SUFFICIENT QUALITY AND QUANTITY TO BE MINED FOR INDUSTRIAL USE.

    THE GEMS WERE DISCOVERED BY ACCIDENT AND THE MINING COMPANY IS TO SET UP A PILOT EXTRACTION PLANT LATER THIS YEAR TO HELP DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF THE FIND.
