IN LONDON TODAY (SATURDAY) THERE WAS A BIG DEMONSTRATION AGAINST AMERICAN POLICY IN VIETNAM. AT THE SAME TIME, SIMILAR DEMONSTRATIONS WERE TAKING PLACE IN BONN, BRUSSELS, ROME AND COPENHAGEN.

IN LONDON, THE COMMITTEE OF 100 AND THE BRITISH COUNCIL FOR PEACE IN VIETNAM MARCHED TO THE UNITED STATES EMBASSY. POLICE WERE OUT IN FORCE AND KEPT THE DEMONSTRATORS WITH THEIR BANNERS ON THE MOVE, AND AWAY FROM THE EMBASSY.

IN THE UNITED STATES ITSELF A SERIES OF DEMONSTRATIONS ARE PLANNED OVER THE WEEKEND. THE FIRST TO GET UNDER WAY IN SOME 100 AMERICAN CITIES TODAY WAS STAGED IN NEW YORK WHERE TEN-THOUSAND PEOPLE MARCHED DOWN FIFTH AVENUE.

THE LONDON DEMONSTRATORS SHOUTED "WE WANT JOHNSON CRUCIFIED." SOME OF THE 1500 STAGING THE MARCH DECIDED TO HOLD A 36-HOUR VIGIL NEAR THE EMBASSY IN FASHIONABLE GROSVENOR SQUARE, MAYFAIR. THEY MARCHED WITH TORCHLIGHTS AND AT ONE TIME THEY WERE INVOLVED IN A CLASH WITH POLICE. A NUMBER OF ARRESTS WERE MADE.
