  • Description

The fifty-strong Canadian trade mission, which is in England for talks on Anglo-Canadian commerce, began a tour of British industries today with visits which included the Bristol Aeroplane Company at Filton.

The delegation leader, Mr Gordon Churchill, Canadian Minister for Trade and Commerce, described the journey as " a voyage of discovery over England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland." He added: " We are looking over your industry and productive capacity and hope we will find a lot of things which we can buy for Canada."
When the delegates visited the factories of the Bristol Aeroplane Company they were told by Mr Peter Masefield, managing director of Bristol Aircraft Ltd., " We believe the Britannia is going to be able to put Canadian Pacific in a very competitive position on world routes."
The delegates were later to meet forty representatives of Bristol and south west industries.
