    Background: King Feisal of saudi Arabia arrived in Uganda on Tuesday (14 Nov) to begin his first visit to a mainly Christian African state.

    During his three day visit, he was to have two rounds of talks with President Amin as well as discussions with members of Uganda's Muslim Supreme Council.

    Preparations for the visit were made on a scale not seen since the visit of Pope Paul three years ago.

    Traditional dancers and singers formed a colourful background as President Amin welcome the King at Entebbe airport.

    SYNOPSIS: President Amin and his young sons -- one of them seen with him here -- were on hand with traditional dancers at Entebbe airport on Tuesday to welcome King Feisal of Saudi Arabia to Uganda.

    The airport welcome was in keeping with the status of King Feisal, who was making his first visit to a mainly Christian African state. Correspondents said the preparations were on a scale not seen since the arrival of Pope Paul three years ago. The King was to spend three days in Uganda, during which time he was scheduled to have two rounds of talks with President Amin and other Ugandan leaders. He was also to have discussions with members of Uganda's Muslim Supreme Council.

    And there was an extensive programme of official functions, as well as a prayer meeting on Old Kampala hill.

    Relations between Saudi Arabia and Uganda have been improving over the last few years They agreed to establish diplomatic relations during a visit by President Amin to Jeddah last July. The following month it was announced Uganda would receive a development loan of more than six million pounds Sterling from Saudi Arabia.
