'This is a very great adventure, I mean it's going to last a very long time. I think about ... from the adventure side people should not move from A to B and do nothing and they have been taking a great deal of trouble, the men who are playing their part in, - to undertake various scientific projects...
'With all the sponsors involved, exploring is obviously a very big business these days?'
'Of course yes, travellers, explorers, they all need equipment, it's becoming shall we say a popular pastime throughout the world and all the sponsors which are supporting this expedition will....so there is something in it for them as well.
'Exploring is now big business, this expedition has more than 400 sponsors and they're hoping that the successful completion of the first longtitutional trek around the world will mean a profits boost not only for the British but the Canadian companies involved. John Darby in Farnborough England
