WALDHEIM:"Ladies and gentlemen, I wish to announce the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry to undertake a fact-finding mission to Iran, to hear Iran's grievances and to allow an early solution of the crisis between Iran and the United States. Iran desires to have the Commission speak to each of the hostages. The commission will be composed, as you have heard in the meantime, of Andres Aguilar from Venezuela, Mohammed Bedjaoui of Algeria, Adib Daludi of the Syrian Arab Republic, H.W. Jayewardena of Sri Lanka, and Louis Edmond Pettiti of France. The members from Algeria and Venezuela will serve as its co-chairmen.

The Commission, which will leave for Teheran over the weekend - they are leaving from Geneva - will complete its work as soon as possible and submit its report to the Secretary General.

REPORTER:"Mr Secretary-General, when will the American hostages be released? What is the agreement?"

WALDHEIM:"As I said, in the last days, there is no deadline for the whole procedure, including both aspects of the problem, namely the grievance of Iran and the grievances of the United States in regard to the hostages."
